ORGANIZATION

To God be the glory for his faithfulness and goodness over us all. this department was decentralised during the tenure of Rev.Jerry Akinsola as the Director of CED of the Nigerian Baptist Convention when it was inauguration in 2010 at Irepodun Baptist Association, the pioneer coordinator was Rev. E.O. Areo, pastor, Emmanuel Baptist Church Orile Oshodi. He worked meritoriously to ensure its sound and firm footing in the Association. He handed over to the present Coordinator, Rev. Sunday A. Akinwale, pastor, Bethel Baptist Church, Adiyan in January, 2014.

The department witness the full cooperation of the Sunday School dept., Discipleship ministry and social ministry in the conduct of her general affairs. All her Meetings, Seminars, Workshop and Retreats were attended with the financial assistance of the Association and personal sacrifice of the personnels involved.

We organized a lecture on Holy Spirit during the second quarter Associational meeting that took place at the Ebenezer Baptist Church Mafoluku in March, 2015. The program was tagged, “Holy Spirit; the Basic Instrument in the Teaching Ministry”. The paper was written by the Coordinator and the congregation divided into syndicate groups. Rev. Akinbande, Rev. Adeyanju and Bro. Oyetunji taught the 3 groups, after which the Coordinator, LEBC ReY. Dr. Jide Adetutu who was represented by Rev. Dr. Sunday lyidele led the impartation in all, the spirit of God moved and everyone was greatly blessed.

In principle, the second quarterly Associational Meetings have been conceded to CED for her annual programs. We are trusting God for another wonderful moment in the subsequent years.

SUNDAY SCHOOL DEPARTMENT

This department has been in existence before the multiplication of the Association to Irepodun I and II and since then has developed and advancing into teaching and developing people as the four cardinal points implies namely: Reach teach, win and develop.

The following officers are privileged to oversea the affairs of this department namely;

• Mr OA Egbepeju as the superintendent for some years
• He was succededbyDn. S.O.Ojewale as supt. between 1993 to 1998

© Dn. E.K. Ayinla took over from the year 1999 to 2005. He was succeeded by Bro Victor Mozia from 2005 to 2010.

At the expiration of his tenure the office of the Superintendent is presently under the leadership of Dn. Chinedu Iheanacho from 2011 till date.

The following also complemented the efforts of these Superintendent as Secretaries, they include: Bro. Ogundino, Bro. Kchinde Fatosin, Bro. Abayomi Oke and Dn. Chinedu Iheanacho. Some other office financial secretary and Treasurer are handled by Dn. Femi Ogunjobi and Mrs Awolowo respectively.

This department is made up of (14) fourteen Churches fully cooperating. It is one of the arms of Christian Education Ministry of our Association. Two Pioneer Pastors and Coodinators of this department Rev. E. O. Areo and Rev. Akinwale of Emmanuel Baptist Church and Bethel Baptist Church respectively. Some other activities of this department and their involvements in the Association are:

• Exchange of Superintendent which has helped to check the progress of Sunday School in our various Churches.
• We also engage in village Evangelism as our mandate in the Propagation of the Gospel.
• Through the Christian Education Department, many have been taught and developed to become teachers in the house of the Lord.
• The Youth, Teenager and Children are trained to engage them in quiz and Memory Drill Competition. Till date this department is still waxmg strong and is committed to achieve our goal.

DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING MINISTRY DEPARTMENT (DTM)

Discipleship Training Ministry is one of the Christian Education department of the Nigeria Baptist Convention. It is formally known as Baptist Training union (BTU) and Church Training Programme (C.T.D) But It is now known as Discipleship Training Ministry (DTM).

The first meeting was held at First Baptist Church Oshodi 19/21 Oshodi Road, and is Presently being held there every 3rd Thursday of the month by 6:00pm

KEY OFFICERS /LEADERS

Deacon T.K. Adedokun of Central Baptist Church, Ebute meta was the pioneer Director in 1994 while Mr. Joel Adefioye was the Secretary. Immediately Deacon T.K. Adedokun was appointed as the CTP Director of Lagos State Baptist Conference, Dn. S.A. Awomyi was chosen to replace him as Association Director while Mr. Joel Adefioye continued to be Secretary after Dn. S. A. Awoniyi has completed his term, Dn. S. A. Adewuyi (Now Rev’d S. A. Adewuyi of The Bible Baptist Church, Mafoluku) was the 3rd Director, Prince N. A. Ande was the Secretary. Late Dn. J.B. Kehinde took the mantle from Dn. S. A. Adewuyi, Brother Taiwo Olaniyan was the Secretary while Bro. Gabriel Oyetunji was recording Secretary. Rev’d Steve Adekanbi served as the Consultant.

Then, after Late Dn. J.B. Kehinde completed. Mrs. D. A.Oladipupo was appointed and Bro. Gabriel Oyetunji was still the secretary. Consultant was Rev’d S.A. Adewuyi.

Presently, Bro, Gabriel Oyetunji of Ebenezer Baptist Church Mafoluku is the Director while Bro, Taiwo Olayanju of FBC Mafoluku is the Asst. Director while Mrs. Toyin Adeoye of Zion B.C. Orile –Oshodi is the Secretary.

Landmark Achievements / Significant projects since the inauguration till date, the Association has won scries of trophies at various levels. Irepodun Association was the First Association to present the first ever Children Memory Driller to the Conference and to the Convention levels which Tolulope Adedokun of the Association came 1 st for Lagos State Baptist Conference, like wise Oyebisi Job had won 1st position Trophy for the Conference at Convention level.

SOCIAL MINISTRIES DEPARTMENT

Social Ministries Department was inaugurated in Irepodun Baptist Association in the year 2002.

Rev’d Steve Adekanbi was the First Director for Department and he ran activities of Social Ministries as Director in the Association for good eight years from January 2002 – 2009 December. Mr Sunday Ajiboye has been the chairman for Social Ministries Department in First Baptist Church Oshodi Since January 2005 till December 2010. (5 years) and he has been attending Conference segments. I attended the E. C once, and they told him that only Association Director was allowed to Attend the E. C. but they will inform Rev’d Steve Adekanbi if he would allow Mr Sunday Ajiboye to assist him in Conference E. C. that was how he started to attend E.C, of the Conference and Association. Rev’d Steve Adekanbi introduced him to the Association, in 2006. He began to attend Association E. C. regularly to deliver Conference information to the Director, that was how he was recognised by the Association Executive so far so good.

In November 2009 when Association Nominating Committee started their work for 2010 Departmental Head. Rev’d. Steve Adekanbi was rotating out, the Nominating Committee asked him for recommendation for the next Director, Rev’d Steve Adekanbi recommended Mr Sunday Ajiboye. That was how he became Social Ministries Director of the Association since January 2010 to date.

We have five Divisions under Social Ministries. They are:

PRISON – Minister to the inmates, we conduct Discipleship training for the inmates of Medium Prison at Kirikiri.

ORPHANAGE HOME DEVISES – We console them with the word of God, offer them prayer, and we give gifts to the inmates.

CHARITY HOME DEVISES – We minister to them, console them,offer prayer and gifts to the inmates.

BOYS & GIRLS REMAND HOME: We minister to them, pray for them and give them gifts.

WIDOW & WIDOWERS DEVISES: We do console them with the word of God, Prayer and gifts.

Social Ministries is moving forward, growing gradually.
