About Church
Prior to the establishment of the Church, FBC Oshodi through her under shepherd, Rev. Dr. Michael Alaaye Ekiran, made known her intention to have a preaching station at Adiyan, in order to retain her membership of four families that had relocated to Adiyan as at 2004. The Evangelism chairman, Dn. S.A. Abegunde of blessed memory alerted the under shepherd at FBC Oshodi about the presence of four families at Adiyan. Then, Dr. Ekiran called Bro. Akinwale Sunday to confirm the information. A visit was made by Dn. S.A. Abegunde and an assessment tour was conducted round the community. We got a temporary place of worship in a building occupied then by Anchor Summit Nursery and Primary School with the consent of the tower of the building, Mr. Onanuga and a date was fixed for inauguration.
Lo and behold, on the 9th of January, 2005, the Evangelism bus of F.B.C. Oshodi arrived and the first worship service took place with seventeen (17) men, fifteen (15) women, six (6) boys and nine (9) girls total forty seven (47) souls and a total sum of Two thousand, two hundred and twenty five naira was realized (N2,225). The theme of the message was “I will build my church on the rock”, the passage was taken from Matt. 16: 13-20. At the end of the service before the benediction Rev. M.A. Ekiran named Bro, Sunday Akinwale as the church leader.
The mother church was sending delegates for first two months in this order Dn. F.S, Shittu, Dn. M.A. Philip, Dn. E.K. Ayinla, Dn. S.A. Abegunde and Dn. M.A. Ojelere, leading. The following families were instrumental to the take-off of the church: Rev. &Mrs. Akinwale Sunday -Nike, Mr & Mrs. Johnson Ogunniran, Mr & Mrs. Bisi Akinwale and Mr & Mrs. James Akinwale. The leader appointed Bro. Ogunniran as the Church Secretary and Bro. Bisi Akinwale as the Treasurer, Mrs. Nike Akinwale as Sunday School Superintendent while Mrs, Ogunniran Mary was handling DTM.
The BSF under Bro. Gbenga Osho’s leadership came for the village evangelism at Adiyan in June for 3 days and was hosted by the church leader and the God’s word was shared.
Rev. Dr. M.A. Ekiran visited again on the 24th July 2005 with fifty seven souls (57) in attendance.
Dn. Ayinla and Dns. Omotosho visited on the 28th August 2005 and W.M.U was inaugurated by W.M.U chairperson Dns Omotosho who named Mrs. Victoria Nike Akinwale as the first W.M.U chairperson of the church.
On the 16th of October, 2005, Irepodun Association sunbeam visited the church to inaugurate the sunbeam department with Mrs. Bose Akinwale as the leader of sunbeam.
On the 30th of October 2005, Dn. Ojelere came visiting to deliver five dozens of white chairs from the mother church.
The first mother’s day was observed on the 27th May 2007 while the first father’s day was equally observed on the 15th of June, 2008.
The congregation moved to the permanent site of the church for first worship service on the 25th of May 2008 with seventy three souls (73) in attendance.
Sunday 5th of August, 2007, prayer of dedication was said for the church leader, Bro & Sis. Akinwale S.A. on his resumption at Baptist College of Theology, Lagos as a student.
Rev. Dr. & Mrs. Kayode Nike Opoola visited the church on the 10th of August 2008 for the first time when he joined the pastorate of FBC Oshodi. He has been a regular visitor to the church with full financial, moral and spiritual support till date.
The Valedictory Service was organized by the church in honour of Rev. Dr. & Dr. (Mrs) M.A. Ekiran on the 9th of Nov, 2008 at the peak of their retirement from the active pastoral assignment.
The first youth week was observed in the church between 7th to 14th of June 2009 and the youth pastor was Bro. Samuel Omotosho.
The first song service of the choir came up on the 20th of Sept., 2009. Bro. Kehinde Bukola resumed the secretariat of the church on the 1 st of January 2010.
The church leader became the student pastor of the church (supervised ministry) in August 2008, after the completion fo his course at the Baptist College of Theology, Lagos; he was called as a bivocational pastor on the 1st of July 2011 till 31st December 2015. The work of God flourished in his hand and the church witness both physical and spiritual development. He enjoyed the full cooperation of all the departmental heads and all members. He was ordained to the full gospel ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ on the 5th September 2015. To God be the glory. The church was tagged, “the tabernacle of God’s family” The church is a family and family of God indeed. The church average worshiper range between 122 and 164 in the recent time. And the Lord is adding to his church daily those that were being saved.
