About Church
The church, First Baptist Church now located at 56, Adisa Ajibulu Street, Mafoluku, was given birth to by First Baptist Church Oshodi (opposite the general post office Oshodi on the 12th of December, 1971. First Baptist church was given birth to by First Baptist church Oshodi when it dawned on believers the need to extend the words of God to areas where Christ is yet known in compliance with the great commission (Mark 16: 15 – 16) and in order to alleviate the pains of their members attending services at Oshodi from Mafoluku. To further concretized their commitment to evangelism in Mafoluku, the mother church First Baptist Church sent three missionaries to their then “baby” church, they were Deacon S.A Alaafia (first leader of the church), Mr. John Falade now Deacon John Falade (assistant leader) and Mr. Adebunmi as Sunday school/ C.T.P Director.
The pioneer families whom the Lord used for the establishment of First Baptist Church Mafoluku were Messrs Emmanuel ODuleye, MIcheal Olubiye Eweoya, Timothy Olaniyi Ariwodola and Adebayo Kehinde, these families and the missionaries sent from the mother church were the First Executive Committee of First Baptist Church Mafoluku. The church (FBC Mafoluku) was formely Christened Gospel Baptist Church when it the word gospel was deleted in 1979 as a result of the move to Lagos Gospel Baptist Conference which was perceived to be a threat to the unification of the Nigeria Baptist Convention for having two regulatory bodies within one state churches with the premise opportunity to penetrate them, decided to remain loyal to Lagos State Baptist Conference and some others remain Gospel and at long last dissociated from LSBC
The church started as a small congregation at 1, Olaore Street, on Late Pa Emmenuel Oduleye’s plot and later moved to Oloworaa street, on Deacon S.A. Oke and Pa. Amos Oke’s plot for expansion. The problem associated with getting a landed property in Lagos did not elude the church, her first plot of land was at Makinde Street, which was taken over is presently accommodating Nigeria Police Station Mafoluku. All to the glory of God, the Lord again blessed the church with the plot we are presently occupying on 1st Dec, 1979. The building of the church commenced not too long to avoid a repeated occurrence of the former in the year 1982 with the help of the Lord. Since the building of the church commenced in 1983, it has always been built by the members through manual labour with the aid of consultant engineers and directive from the Holy Spirit at every stage of development.
LEADERSHIP
The first shepherd that led the church was Late Rev. Aderonmu in the year 1982. He resigned in 1985. The then leader of the church Deacon B.A. Adesina took over after the resignation of Rtd. Rev. Aderonmu. He paved way for the second trained shepherd pastor. A. Adeleke (now Rev. Evangelist J.A Adeleke) in 1987 who also resigned due to his call by God to float an evangelistic ministry, Christened Herald of God ministries in 1993. In 1993/1994, the church prayed for another pastor, and as God lives, Rev. Steve Adekanbi has being the shepherd till date.

CONCLUSION
So far the church is most grateful to God and her mother church for granting her existence and substance over the year despite the up and downs the church had faced in her trial periods in the bid to establish and maintain sanity in the affairs of the church. The church similarly thanks the members for their steadfastness, sense of unity, faithfulness, effectiveness and the fear of God they have in their dealing with fellow brethren
In comparison with other churches in the same denomination, spiritually, physically and growth of members, the church cannot be undermined. We give God the glory for all the church has achieved through Christ and what He has in store (good tidings) for the future and the perfection of the present endeavours of the church. Amen!
