About Church
Peaceway Baptist Church which at inception was named Ebenezer Baptist Church, was founded in February, 1979 by the Evangelism group of First Baptist Church Ijeshatedo. It started in the house of Mr. Fasinu David at Teniola street, Ijeshatedo. Mr. M. A. Obisiji of First Baptist Church Ijeshatedo was called upon to take up the leadership of the church, he left for his home town in 1981. Dns. D. O. Avwenagha and Mr. S. A. Ogundare took over the leadership of the church from 1981 to 1986, Then, the church got a plot of land at Marayesa street, Aguda, Surulere. Controversies on the said plot of land led to the demolition of the church building. Sequel to this, the Church was moved to Balogun Kuku Street, Aguda, Surulere on temporary space provided by a good Samaritan under the leadership of Mr. E. K. Adekunle and was assisted by Messers I. O. Ogunjobi, S. A. Ogundare, J. Oyetunji. When the need arose to vacate the said temporary space, the church was moved to the house of another member, Mr. S. 0. Adeagbo at Sesan Moyegun Street, Ijeshatedo. From there, the Lord provided the permanent site at No 32 Sesan Moyegun Street, Ijeshatedo for the Church under the leadership of Dn. T. O. Ogungbire.
At various intervals, the following acted as vacation Pastors: Pastor Ajala, Pastor J. Olakunle, Pastor M. A. Adejumo, Pastor G. Adeloye and Pastor Opaleye.
The church got her first pastor, Pastor J. I. Adeleye in 1995 and he left in 1998. After that, Mr Job Ogundele became the church leader from 1998 to 2000. On 1st Sept, 2000, Pastor P. O. Jenfa became the Church Pastor and he left on 30th April 2009. The Church was Organised on 3rd March 2001 and was renamed as “Peaceway Baptist Church” in 2002. Since 2009, Bro Bode Oyeniyi acts as Church Leader.
